Elliot AED

The HeartHero Elliot is a fully automatic AED built to go in a kit, glove box, or pack rather than stay on a wall. Pull the red handle to power on and deploy the pre-connected pads — or press the green power button. Voice prompts, visual icons, and a CPR metronome then walk the rescuer through pad placement, CPR, and shock delivery. There is no shock button to press.

It is listed on the TGA Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 387771). Elliot Australia Pty Ltd is the exclusive distributor for Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.

Why It Suits Field Work

Traditional AEDs are bulky and often stay in a cabinet. Elliot weighs 680 g including batteries and pads, and measures 15.50 x 15.85 x 4.58 cm.

Using Elliot

The device is indicated for suspected sudden cardiac arrest: the person is unresponsive and not breathing, or not breathing normally. It is intended to terminate ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. It will not shock unless it detects a shockable rhythm.

1. Press the green power button, or pull the red handle to turn the unit on and slide out the pad cartridge.
2. Expose the chest. Open the white pouch, peel both pads fully off the blue liner, and stick them to bare skin as shown on the pads and the display.
3. Stay clear while Elliot analyses the rhythm. If a shock is needed it counts down and delivers it automatically, then prompts CPR. If no shock is advised it still prompts CPR.
4. Follow voice and icon prompts until emergency services take over.

Press the language button to switch between the two preset languages during use. Extra languages can be downloaded in the HeartHero app. The unit returns to the primary language after each use.

Keep the patient still during analysis. Do not touch them while the shock icon is lit. Call emergency services yourself — do not rely on the device to do it.

Adult And Child Modes

Elliot defaults to adult mode (150 J). Before the pads are on, press the child button for a patient under 23 kg (55 lb). The ring around the button lights white, and the unit drops energy to 50 J and changes CPR prompts. Once pads are on the patient, the button is inactive.

• Adult pads: both on the bare chest, as printed on the pads
• Child pads: one on the centre of the bare chest, one on the centre of the bare back

For adults the metronome coaches compressions only. For children it also prompts rescue breaths. Training is still recommended so the team can start CPR quickly; the device does not replace a first-aid plan.

Connectivity

Bluetooth Low Energy pairs with the HeartHero app for setup and status. HeartHero also lists LTE. A blinking Bluetooth icon means ready to pair; solid means connected. Press and hold the information button for more than three seconds in standby to open pairing (about 20 seconds).

The app (specified for iPhone 11–16, iOS 15–18) shows battery, pad condition, and self-test results; maps owned and shared devices; and can produce a time-stamped treatment summary with ECG data. In-app status colours:

• Green — ready
• Yellow — maintenance soon (low battery or pads near expiry)
• Red — maintenance now (very low battery or expired pads)
• Blue — in use
• Grey — no device connected

If cellular registration is complete, Elliot may try to contact EMS when pads are applied. Always make a human call as well. The unit still works without a cellular contract.

Maintenance

Elliot runs its own tests. A blinking green system-OK light means it passed. A yellow fault or information light, or a chirp every 30 seconds, means press the information button and follow the prompt. There are no user-serviceable parts inside — do not open the enclosure.

After each use, replace the electrode pad cartridge and the four batteries, inspect for damage, and return the unit to its storage place. Keep a spare cartridge and spare CR123A cells. Replace pads if they have been used, damaged, or expired, or if the pad-quality self-test fails. Only HeartHero cartridges fit Elliot.

Clean the closed unit with a soft damp cloth (soapy water, dilute hydrogen peroxide, ammonia-based cleaner, or 70% isopropyl alcohol). Do not sterilise, and do not use acetone, abrasives, or enzymatic cleaners.

The unit ships in sleep mode. Press the green power button once to wake it and run a self-test; store it with pads and batteries installed so it is ready.

Distributor accessories include replacement pads, a battery door, hardshell case, rescue/prep kit, wall sign, and wall cabinet. A field kit should also carry gloves, a mask, scissors, wipes, and a razor for pad contact.

Indications And Safety

Use only on a suspected sudden cardiac arrest (unresponsive, not breathing or not breathing normally). Do not use near an MRI. Move supplemental oxygen away from the pads (an oxygen mask on the patient is acceptable). Stay clear during analysis and shock. Do not let pads touch each other, metal, medicine patches, or other electrodes.
